The Museums of Mequinenza are located on the “María Quintana” School Group, one of the few old town buildings still standing. They are formed by the Museum of the Mine, the Museum of History of Mequinenza and the Museum of the Prehistoric Past. At the Mine Museum of Mequinenza, you will find a mining gallery of more than 1000 meters  under the mountain of the Castle of Mequinenza. A unique museum where you can discover the methods of extraction of coal in Mequinenza since 1850, the working conditions of the miners and many curiosities about the coal of Mequinenza. An immersive experience that allows visitors to become true coal miners!

The Museum of History of Mequinenza awaits an exciting journey through History, from the first human settlements to modern and modern Mequinenza. Discover how the water has marked the past and the present of Mequinenza throughout the centuries. Discover the Roman Octogesa, the Muslim Miknasa, the medieval Mequinenza, revive sieges and battles in the Castle and explore the Espai Moncada, a place dedicated to the most universal writer from Mequinenza, where you can discover its literary, photographic and pictorial works

Museum of the Prehistoric Past

And in the Museum of the Prehistoric Past you can become an authentic archeologist knowing more than 50 archaeological sites found around the town. A large exhibition space with reproductions to discover how the first settlers lived, such as their rituals, their economy or their culture.
